FAQ

I do not live in the U.S, can I still enter?
Absolutely. Keep in mind that the competition begins at 5:00pm (Pacific Standard Time) so if you are in a different country you might be starting at a strange time.

Does my movie have to be in English?
Nope, in fact you don’t even need to include any dialogue (some of the best stories do not have talking).

Is there an age limit?
No. Any age is welcome.

What if I don’t have a good camera?
It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you film on, as long as your story is worth telling.

What time will the contest start for me?
The competition will begin at 5:00pm (pacific standard time) but since many people from around the world will be joining, many of them will be starting at very odd times of the day. You can use this time zone convertor and find out when the starting time will be for you.  Everyone will be filming during the same 48 hours, only beginning at different times of the day because of timezone differences.

How long are the videos suppose to be?
Your videos can be any length up to 3 minutes long. The 3 minutes also includes any credits that you want to include. Be sure to add a 3 second frame in the beginning which states the title and the 3 required elements that you have chosen to use.

How do we use the 3 required elements?
We will be sending you a list of several elements and you will pick 3 of them: a camera angle, a prop, and an article of clothing. You need to include the prop and the clothing in at least 1 shot each. The camera angle should be self explanatory.

What if I don’t have one of the props?
You will be given a list of many different camera angles, props, and clothing items so that you have a very likely chance of having them all and you will be able to choose something that works with your story.

How are the videos being submitted?
We are asking everyone to upload their videos to their YouTube channel as an unlisted video and send us the video link. This does need to be completed by the deadline so plan on your upload time being apart of the 48 hours.

Do we keep the rights to our films?
Yep. You keep all the rights to your work.

Will all the videos be posted somewhere?
Yes, all the eligible videos will be posted on the http://www.48FilmChallenge.com website.

What if I don’t have a team?
We are working on a way to help you find a local team.

When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced just a week after the competition has ended. They will be announced on the 48FilmChallence.com website as well as on the FinalCutKing second channel (Youtube.com/FinalCutQueen).

Who will be judging?
The judges will include a panel including Zach King, Aaron Benitez, Jadon Guttier, Aaron Poladian, and a few others talented filmmakers.

Hi, Its almost impossible to find a good music composer in our area, infect our production team always use royalty free music, bought from websites like audio jungle or digital juice. So will we be eligible to use such music. The music obviously would be already done since it will be bought, but all the sound mixing and music editing would be done during the 48 hours and the sound tracks to be used, will also be chosen during the 48 hour period to keep things fair.

    Is this permitted?

    Regards,
    Stephan
